The Los Angeles Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center is a free service made possible by donations from members of the Scottish Rite Masonic fraternal organization. We receive no state or federal funding.
We provide speech, language and reading therapies to children ages three through eighteen who demonstrate a speech and/or language disorder. We are the only organization in Los Angeles, apart from the public schools, that offers free speech, language and reading therapy.
In the private sector, the services we provide would cost thousands of dollars.
In the Los Angeles area, the fee for a private speech and language assessment ranges from $350 to $1200 depending on the age of the child and the situation. Often, there is a separate fee for report writing of $300 or more. Educational therapy/reading assessments are also usually priced in this range. We provide both for free.
Therapy for language and/or reading disorders ranges from $120 to $175 an hour. Some of our clients receive therapy twice a week for up to eighteen months. That’s over $17,000 of free services.
In order to maximize the results of our efforts, we do not offer the freedom of scheduling that you can expect at a private clinic. We have a significant number of children waiting to be treated and we must give precedence to those who are willing to fit their schedules to ours.
If you are the parent of, or know a child who might be helped by our services, we invite you to review our admission guidelines and complete an application.
